Health & Hygiene
Health and hygiene was a big issue in Medieval times people were unaware that if you didn't wash diseases will start and spread even the bad odours around the castles and towns spread diseases. Peasants were oblivious to hygiene and would often cook or handle food without washing their hands or cleaning the food. Causing disease to spread through the food that was prepared and consumed on some occasions.
Sewage, rubbish, human and animal corpses left on the streets were also a cause of disease spreading. Newborns were often affected by disease and 200 out of every 1000 babies died in their first 12 months of life from disease or lack of hygiene. Bathing was also uncommon in Medieval times as the water that was tipped out after someone bathed in it was full of disease so it was another cause of disease and sickness. Doctors were very hard to find as well and not many people had the knowledge or medicine to become a doctor and cure disease instead many people got sick to the point of death.
